Warwickshire's Hogans wins awards

Hogan’s Cider is celebrating again this week having secured first place for both their Medium and Dry Cider at the Royal Bath and West Show. 

Hogan’s Cider, based in Haselor, Warwickshire, achieved first place in the Dry Cider class and first place in the Medium Cider class, ahead of around 600 total entries in the Orchards and Cider category.

Allen Hogan, of Hogan’s Cider said: ”We are absolutely delighted to win first place for both our Medium and Dry Cider. We see it as a real honour to be placed first in the face of challenging competition.”

The Royal Bath and West Show, which attracts around 160,000 people over four days, is now in its 149th year and is said to be the largest cider competition in the world. This year saw a record number of entries with around 600 ciders in the running. 

Raymond Blanc was among the judging panel and he marvelled at the range of ciders on offer at the show, expressing his delight that the cider entrants had grown from 59 ciders 5 years ago to well over 500 this year. His verdict on the standard of the ciders: “Magnifique!”

The double win at the Royal Bath and West Show comes hot on the heels of success at the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition in the US where Hogan’s Cider picked up a Gold Medal and Best in Show for their Medium Cider, a Silver Medal for their Dry Cider and a Bronze for their Vintage Perry ahead of over 300 total entries.
