Care Home siteThe site of a former care home in Banbury will be brought back into use after plans for a 60-bed replacement building were approved.

At a meeting of Cherwell District Council's planning committee councillors granted permission for Green Pastures Christian Nursing to build the development at the site of the former 1970's Holly House care home in Bath Road.

The development will involve the demolition of 5 Park Road and the creation of a new three-storey building in place of where Holly House once stood.

Cllr Michael Gibbard, lead member for planning, said: "It is important when considering sites for care homes that we give consideration to both existing and potential new residents.

"For the existing residents, this approval will be bringing a redundant site back into use and restoring it to its original purpose while for the new residents, they will be perfectly situated to access the town centre and all of the associated benefits."

The development will be built across the 0.38 hectare site to offer 60 en suite bedrooms, residential gardens and staff and visitor parking.
