Works by Midlands landscape painter and watercolourist Thomas Baker (1808-  1864) are now on display in Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum’s Spotlight alcove.

Often known as Baker of Leamington or Landscape Baker, Thomas Baker painted landscapes throughout Warwickshire, the Midlands and the Welsh border regions and also produced depictions of the Lake district, Scotland and Ireland.

Inspired by his teacher, the artist Joseph Barber, Baker became famous for his idyllic, pastoral scenes as well as less well known works of local urban landscapes.

The collection at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum includes more than 60 artworks by Baker and this Spotlight exhibition will showcase a selection of these works.

You can catch Thomas Baker’s work on display at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum from Friday 15 March – Monday 27 May.
