Luxury housebuilder supports thatching industry with ‘unique’ Oxfordshire new-build development

Quintessential thatched cottages have decorated picture-postcard villages across the UK countryside since the Bronze Age.

Centuries ago master thatchers were very much part of the community and would have been found practicing their trade in most rural villages in the country.

Mactaggart & Mickel, a fourth-generation family business established in 1925, have supported rural trades throughout their long history and have recently included a thatched roof on their luxury development in Oxfordshire, St Jude’s Meadow, their first venture into England.

Situated in the heart of the idyllic rural village of Milton-under-Wychwood, the development features a mix of 31 3-and 5-bedroom homes. Two show homes were recently launched, including a stunning thatched 5-bedroom home situated at the entrance to the development.
