The lady pictured above was one of Banburys well known characters from the 40s onwards. Mrs Maud Webb kept a greengrocers shop by Banbury Cross, and was nearly always outside chatting with passers-by. One of her neighbours was Mr Chris Garrett who worked at Ewins Garage, which was also situated by the Cross, and what the pair of them did not know about what was going on in the town was not worth knowing. She also had a perpetual twinkle in her eye which was captured in this rare photograph of her.
