Coughton Court is set to host its first ever Cheese and Pickle Festival.
The celebration of food and country pursuits takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September and promises to be a real community event.
Whilst maintaining its focus on showcasing local produce, in particular cheese and pickle, the festival will also play host to local country crafts; demonstrating skills of bygone days such as pole lathing, Tudor dances, candle and rag rug making. Local falconry experts; S and D falconry, usually found at the Stratford Armouries, will also be sharing their expertise and bringing a selection of their beautiful birds of prey.
Alcester and Stratford schools will be part of the musical programme which will accompany the two day event, performing diverse sets from classical to jazz.
Visitor Experience Officer Sarah Kinnersley said: “We are really excited about this event and delighted to be working together with local schools and businesses. It’s great that we are working together and able to support each other.
“We hope everyone who attends really enjoys themselves and feels apart of our Coughton community.”
At the heart of the festival, is the Cheese and Pickle marquee, supported by Aga, who will be demonstrating throughout the weekend. Alongside Aga will be local cheeses, chutneys, cheese cakes, crafts stalls, local cider and wines and of course the cheese carving competition.
The Cheese and Pickle festival is being opened by Alcester Town Mayor; Councillor Lennox Cumberbatch and will run from Saturday 24 – Sunday 25 September, 11am – 5pm.
The festival will culminate with the judging of the cheese carving competition by local artist Kay Elliot on Sunday afternoon, so there is plenty of time to take part.
