Radio Horton donates more than £400 to hospital

BANBURY, January 2012: Radio Horton – North Oxfordshire’s Hospital Radio Station – has presented a cheque for £413 to the Horton General Hospital’s Charitable Funds. The funds will go towards the purchase of a Pulse Oxymeter for use in the Out Patients Department.

The money was collected during a two-day fundraiser, held by Radio Horton at Sainsbury’s supermarket on the Oxford Road December 3-4, 2011. The station kept shoppers entertained with Christmas tunes and chart hits, broadcasting live from the supermarket via its website www.radiohorton.co.uk

Station mascot Danny Dragon kept children entertained while Radio Horton volunteers collected money.  “We had a phenomenal response to our Christmas Collection 2011. It was overwhelming to see people digging deep into their pockets to help support the Horton and the station. Our thanks go to all the shoppers who donated and to Sainsbury’s for making us feel so welcome. We raised a total of £826. Half of that is donated to the hospital and half goes towards keeping Radio Horton going,” explained Stewart Green, Station Manager, Radio Horton.

“On behalf of the Horton General Hospital, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Radio Horton for all their hard work and dedication in fundraising for us, it is really appreciated,” said Yolanda Jacob, Fundraising Project Manager and Executive Assistant, Horton General Hospital.

Radio Horton, which has been broadcasting at the hospital since 1964, boasts a wide and varied programme guide that includes Country, Classical, Showtime, Comedy, Rock and Roll, and all the latest hits from the charts. The station also broadcasts live from the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Deddington on the first two Sundays of each month, while for football fanatics Radio Horton provides live commentary from all Banbury United Saturday home games from the Sew Sublime Studio at the Spencer Stadium.
